Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter (born Holly Hunter) is an American actor and producer. She is gaining recognition for her exceptional performances in films including Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Piano, as well as The Incredibles. The film Piano has won several awards for her which included an Oscar. Early on she began performing on stage in various Broadway or Off-Broadway productions. From her early years she's always been enthusiastic about performing. She was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school production. She became deaf in one ear following a bout of mumps but did not let this disability dampen her determination to become an actor. She was a drama major at the college after which she moved between Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her dream. Through a random encounter, she was stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which became Hunter's debut. Following her move into Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure an acting role as a support on Swing Shift. In the three decades since then, Holly Hunter has been featured in a variety of series and television films. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in addition to her Women in Film Lucy Award.
